Biography
Bridget van Zundert (1983) was born in a small town in the south of the Netherlands. She grew up listening and singing along to old jazz and rock ‘n roll records, alternating with the ’80 and ’90 pop and rock music going on around her at the time. Later on she expanded her taste with some old folk and country music. She first picked up a guitar at the age of 13, and a never diminuating love for the instrument was born. First starting out with classical music, she soon started playing along with inspiring artists such as Ani Difranco, Joni Mitchell and Johnny Cash.
Bridget begun her musical career by playing in local rock bands, but soon found out that she had to stubbornly follow her own chosen path. Soon enough she discovered that her voice and finger picking skills led her more and more towards making small, intimate and witty songs, influenced by folk, jazz and pop music. Combine this with her great love for the French language and chansons, and you get what makes her sound so unique.
After single-handedly recording her first EP, she decided to put it out there in 2010. Since then she has been touring through the Netherlands, sometimes with a little help from other musicians, sometimes by her self. Since fall 2011 she joined up with double bass player Oscar Poppe, who regards his instrument not only as a rhythmic but also as a melodious partner. Together they form a unique team. Apart from performing her songs, she also participates in local cultural projects. Check her updates to discover what she's working on right now.
